So anyway, I will postpone the pity party I was just having with myself and I will catch you all up on my life as of late.
Like I mentioned above, we had two camping trips with two very different groups of family members in the space of two weeks. We came home from the first, had two days to prepare for the next, then left to spend four more luxurious days in the high Uintahs. (did you catch the sarcasm there?) I will spare you the details, but will just say that both trips were very fun in different ways. I didn't catch a single fish, though. I am a little irritated to say the least. Abby, however, caught at least ten, but they were all plastic and colored hot pink. Dang...she is so cute!
The two middle children start school next Monday and not a moment too soon! I love their guts, but I am craving routine, a cupboard that still has food in it and most of all, a quiet moment here and there. I know, I know...in a couple of months I will be wishing I didn't have to worry about homework, getting up early and wanting more time to spend with them. But we always want what we don't have, right?
Abby is finally potty training. Well, let's say that Shawn and I have finally decided to make her because we are sick of diapers. The funny part is that Abby is totally capable of doing it, but she simply doesn't want to take the time out of her full-time playing and movie watching schedule for such things. So we have a few little accidents (the latest was in my bed this morning...UGH), but she is doing pretty well. We have figured out that bribing her with pink, sparkly Hello Kitty stickers is a nice incentive.
Well, life is calling me and I am experiencing a rare moment of motivation right now, so I better get off this computer and go do something and only get half way through it. :)
I am totally looking forward to school starting! We haven't had any getaways this summer so it's been Just Plain Boring! Sticker bribes are a WAY better idea than candy! Good luck with the potty training!
ReplyDeleteI am afraid to think of what kind of "fun" you had with us. Thanks for going. I know you guys were slammed busy, but I really look forward to it. Good luck with Abbers. You should let us take the kids for a weekend and just take a 5. We would love it.
ReplyDeleteI so relate...to everything.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you have any luck with the stickers. It doesn't help Charlotte, though she loves them. People keep telling me to use wrapped presents, but it sounds like expensive bribery.
Just saw your comment about the curtains, thanks! I'd be glad to post a little tutorial and some better pictures if you'd like. Is it the curtains you like or the blackout shade? Both were very easy. To see original pictures of just the curtains from San Diego, you can see them here. http://lifewithlotty.blogspot.com/2008/08/as-requested.html
Just let me know which you'd like to see. Or both! :)
Yes Annie!!! Pretty please post a tutorial and pictures of both curtains! I love all of the crafts and sewing you do. You are the queen of creativity.
ReplyDeleteAs for the sticker thing, it works about half of the time. The other half she just asks for chocolate milk. :) But hey, whatever it takes! (although I have to say I don't think I would go as far as the wrapped present idea. That seems like it would cost more and be a lot more work than diapers, which sorta defeats the purpose in my mind!)
Sure! I've been working on the blackout shade tutorial. It's done except pics.
ReplyDeleteCan you get me the measurement of the window you want to cover? Measure length and width inside the window. I think it will help make the tutorial much easier instead of me using hypothetical measurements.
You are awesome! The window I want to cover is 70 3/4" wide and 37" long. I know it sounds backwards, but we have weird 1950's windows. There is actually another one in the same room I want to do too. It's the same width but only 25" long. It's Abby's room. I have had the same problem finding blackout shades that I like that don't cost a fortune. Right now she just has regular blinds and I have these pink curtains that don't really block the light, they just turn the room pink.
ReplyDeleteOf course we're cooler...... Right?
